As quoted above, Engineering today is the most versatile profession in the world, where anything is almost become possible. The world has seen great innovation and technology transformations in the recent few decades. Similarly, the expectations from Engineers are increasing and it is high time engineers to take-up a role as innovators, contribute towards the mankind for a better tomorrow.
At Sri Sairam College of Engineering realizing the above need and to bring in interest factor among the students about the latest technology and as an attempt to make our students learn through innovations, we started this “SRI LEO MUTHU INNOVATION CENTRE” during the Academic Year 2015-16.
Sri Leo Muthu Innovation Centre has been set–up like a lab and is open 24×7 where our students can work on their innovative ideas and build real projects/products. Here our students from different disciplines come together with a common objective of creating projects using cutting-edge technologies by integrating discipline engineering skills.
As a result, the students now are highly inspired and motivated to take-up challenging projects and work on them out of passion and not just that. They have also participated in various national and international level, well recognized events and competition.
In addition, we added various wings with the SLMIC like, SLMIC Embedded Wing, Computer Wing, MHRD Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Centre for excellence for drones innovation and Technology (CDIT)with Udaanshiksa for the development of drones in various fields AND Sairam Business incubator for make the idea into the product development
Some of the Products developed at our centre are,
CENTRE FOR DRONES INNOVATION and TECHNOLOGY

MHRD’s Innovation Cell
Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India has established an ‘Innovation cell’ with a purpose of systematically fostering the culture of Innovation in all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across the country.
MIC will focus on creating complete ecosystem which will foster the culture of Innovation across all educational institutions from ideas generation to pre-incubation, incubation and graduating from the incubator as successful start-ups. MIC will also work on designing ranking system to identify institutions in the forefront of innovation.
Ministry of HRD has established ‘MRHD’s Innovation Cell’ with the mandate to work closely with our Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to encourage the creative energy of our student population to work on new ideas and innovation and promote them to create start-ups and entrepreneurial ventures. Sri Sairam college of engineering established his wing on September 2019.

Various Events Participation details:
Our Team Aditi participated in the Singapore space challenge 2019, pitching session in Global Space and Technology Convention (GSTC) 2019, community choice award ceremony and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Workshop in Singapore and selected for oral presentation in Global Space and Technology Convention (GSTC), The St. Regis, 29 Tanglin Road, Singapore from 13th February to 15th February 2019.
Achievements of the Project:
Totally 40 teams participated in the Singapore space technology from all over the world. Out of this 6 teams shortlisted for the pitching session in Global Space and Technology Convention (GSTC) 2019. We are one among them.
Judges are highly appreciated about the design and gave suggestion for the improvements.
The main focus of this competition is to involve students on the new frontier areas of satellite technology and kindle their innovative thinking in this unexplored area of space environment and observation.
Brief description of the project:
Our main objective of the Research is to develop a simulated design an Earth Observing (EO) Satellite named as ADITISAT which supports us in disaster management such as Flood, Earthquake and Tsunami.
Our proposed system is designed to overcome the thick cloud cover while capture the earth data.
The overall mass of our satellite will be less than 45 kg.
Our Satellite has designed to cover equatorial region at 23 Latitude and longitude. The implementation strategies of our research advocate Attitude Determination and control components, Communication Components, Power management, Solar Panel design, payload calculation and Design of the Satellite etc.
The key challenge in ADITISAT is maintaining the mass under the expected mass as well penetrating the thick cloud cover.
This Research concept will definitely have lot of scope to convert in to a real one.
Social relevance of the project:
We encourage innovation in engineering to conceptualize and design space-related projects to tackle real-world challenges from disasters to improving the quality of life.
The session gave a brief introduction for IIC 4.0 and the purpose of establishing IIC in the institution for supporting the students and faculties. Session provided a lot of information for the members of IIC about how to organize the events specified by MIC and procedures to be followed during uploading the same. Also, few new schemes have been introduced in IIC 4.0 like Mentor- Mentee scheme, ATL School Linkage, E- learning sessions, referral system etc.
