National Service Scheme (NSS)

The NSS at SSEC provides each student with a significant context in which He/She can arrive at a deeper understanding of social reality in India today. The NSS encourages the meaning of the life through service.

By the spirit of seva, the NSS volunteers try to attain to the real knowledge of the person and the environment and to a set of values integral to the Indian way of life.

Motto of NSS

The motto or watchword of the National Service Scheme is ‘NOT ME BUT YOU’. This reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service and appreciation of the other person’s point of view and also to show consideration for fellow human beings. It underlines that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of society on the whole. Therefore, it should be the aim of the NSS to demonstrate this motto in its day-to-day programme.

The main objectives of National Service Scheme (NSS) are:

3 Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem-solving
4 Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility
5 Utilize their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems

8 Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes
9Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters
10Practice national integration and social harmony
