About the Department

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering in Sri Sairam College of Engineering formerly Shirdi Sai Engineering College was established in the year 1997. All through its sparkling history of 21 years, the department of ECE has been known for its exceptionally strong Under-Graduate training programme. The department has always been on a progressive path, thanks to the experienced and dedicated faculty members who have a strong commitment towards providing quality engineering education. The Department has 16 faculty members, 9 supporting Staffs.
In order to inculcate R & D among the students, the department faculty encourages the students to implement innovative ideas in their project works.

Ms. Bindhu S (1SB13EC013) had topped the University by securing 5 Gold Medals and First rank in VTU for the Batch (2013-2017)

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

PEO 1Inculcate in students the professional attributes, ethics, communication skills, Team work in their profession and adapt to current trends by engineering lifelong learning.
PEO 2Design appropriate systems to analyze real time problems and to provide solutions that are technically solved, economically feasible and socially acceptable.

PSO-1Should be able to associate the learning from the course related to signal processing, embedded and communication system to arrive at solution to real world problems.
PSO-2Should have the capability to comprehend the technological advancement in the usage of modern design tool to analyze and design subsystems/processes for a variety of application

PSO-1Specify, design, build and test analog, digital and embedded systems for signal processing
PSO-2Understand and architect wired and wireless analog and digital communication systems as per specifications and determine their performance.


PO1Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO2Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
PO3Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
PO4Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions

As quoted above, Engineering today is the most versatile profession in the world, where anything is almost become possible. The world has seen great innovation and technology transformations in the recent few decades. Similarly, the expectations from Engineers are increasing and it is high time engineers to take-up a role as innovators, contribute towards the mankind for a better tomorrow.

At Sri Sairam College of Engineering realizing the above need and to bring in interest factor among the students about the latest technology and as an attempt to make our students learn through innovations, we started this “SRI LEO MUTHU INNOVATION CENTRE” during the Academic Year 2015-16.

Sri Leo Muthu Innovation Centre has been set–up like a lab and is open 24×7 where our students can work on their innovative ideas and build real projects/products. Here our students from different disciplines come together with a common objective of creating projects using cutting-edge technologies by integrating discipline engineering skills.

As a result, the students now are highly inspired and motivated to take-up challenging projects and work on them out of passion and not just that. They have also participated in various national and international level, well recognized events and competition.

Innovation Lab

Department has started an innovation lab for Embedded domain as a wing associated with Sri Leo Muthu innovation centre established in college. All students are encouraged to carry out their innovative projects in the centre related to specific domain .The lab also supports the students of other domains to carry out inter disciplinary projects.



MoU signed between Escorts Training & Development Center, Bangalore and Department of Mechanical Engineering in the premises of Escorts held on 06.06.2018.

ii) KGTTI:
KGTTI – Karnataka German Technical Training Institute,MoU signed with Dept.of Mechanical,in their Training Institute, Kaushalya Bhavan campus, Dairy circle, Bengaluru, held on 10th January 2019.

Department have signed a Memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the university program of Texas instruments Limited in association with Edugate technologies private limited Bengaluru for organizing students training programs,workshops,Handson training …Etc.

Association of ECE

The association is the pioneer in encouraging the students to organize and participate in the national level symposium. AECE- Association of Electronics and Communication Engineers in association with IETE. The students exhibit their talents in various mind provoking events. The other events organized by the association are International Conferences, National Conferences, Workshops, Seminars / Guest Lecturers on advanced topics.


IEEE – Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers is the world’s largest technical society which provides the latest information and the best technical resources to members worldwide. It is a magnet bringing all Electrical and Electronics Engineers together. IEEE releases a number of journals and magazines and majority are available in our central library. Online access of the publications is also available in our institution.


IETE- Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, is a leading professional society intended for the advancement of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers. It promotes and conducts basic engineering and continuing education programs for Human Resource Development. III and IV year students of ECE are members of IETE Students Forum -ISF.

  • The infrastructure in the laboratory is as per norms. DSP Lab, VLSI Lab and ESD consist of systems with the highest configuration, connected with Internet.
