Club Activities

The faculties of Science and Humanities has organized National Mathematics Day on 23.12.19 in association with Math club and R and D club for our SSPUC students.

On 23rd December 2019, the program was inaugurated with the invocation song by Pragati roa, CSE Ist semester student. All the dignitaries, Principal Dr. Shadaksharappa, Management representative Dr.Arunkumar Rajendran, SSPUC Principal Prof.Sudhakar Hegde and all Department HOD’S were invited to light the lamp.

Dr.Gangavathi.P, HOD, Department of Science and Humanities wished a very warm welcome to all the participants. She mentioned the significance and relevance of National Mathematics Day. Principal Dr.Shadaksharappa given the presidential address and given talk about Mathematicians. Later management representative Dr.Arunkumar Rajendran given the special address about this program. He told that Mathematics is very beautiful if only numbers are visible and difficult if variables (Alphabets) used along with the numbers.

Video presentation arranged for students about the Life History and Achievements of Srinivasa Ramanujan, Magic square and applications of Mathematics. Later, Quiz activity organized for students and Prize distributed to the winners and Runners of Quiz activity. This program is linked with Sustainable Development Goal number 04- Quality Education.

Vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Sireesha, Department of Science and Humanities, On behalf of the entire organizing team. She extended an immense gratitude to the management and Principal for their continuous support to conduct this program.

All members of club along with Science club students visited to Samandhur Govt High School on occasion of National Science Day on 28/02/2020.
Club members presented a video showcasing life history & achievements of Sir C V Raman and also explained as to why this day is called as National Science Day. General Science quiz was organized for all students (8th, 9th and 10th std) to create interest in Science among them. Students participated actively in the quiz.
In order to create interest in science among the student’s few experiments were demonstrated by the R and D club Members to all the students. The students enjoyed the experiments and understand the concept too.

MATH CLUB ACTIVITY REPORT

On account of math club organized ‘Great Mathematicians’ on 15-03-2018 and ‘Math Quiz’ on 19-03-2018.
The club members gathered in AV-hall the program included following events.

    • ‘Great Mathematicians’ through the PPT presentation students expressed their information collected about the mathematicians.
    • We got to know about the mathematician from our own country and even from other countries also.
    • ‘Math Quiz’ it included 3 set of rounds in which 1st round was aptitude test and 2nd round was identification round and 3rd round was question answering round.
    • We students participated with full enthusiasm and interestingly and finally by combining both the activity points ‘C’ group won the prize. All this experience added a new perspective to our imagination and will surly help us in our future projects.

A small ppt was presented on various ways to preserve/save the natural water and how to minimize the consumption of water in our daily life.

On account of open day at IISC, science club organized a field trip for all its members on 10/3/2018.
The club members visited various departments in the campus, few among them are:-

  • Material Science, Transport Engineering, organic chemistry, physical and inorganic chemistry, Earth science, mechanical engineering, computer science and Dept. of mathematics and came across the ongoing research at IISC and demo of some basic concepts by research scholars.
  • Some of the phenomenon we came across are visco elasticity, luminescence, refractive index, phenomenon of bending of light, solution for traffic, Entropy-demonstration, determination of pi value, VR lab, propulsion, motion in animals.
  • We also got a chance to see the live demo on the working of a 3d printer and the Super computer which was a great deal for us.
  • There was a demo of preparation of edible ice cream using liquid nitrogen, preparation of bouncing balls.
  • We students participated in riddle ride conducted by department of transport engineering and won a prize.
    All this experience added a new perspective to our imagination and will surely help us in our future projects.

Members of Science club visited to Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, on Occasion of Open day on 29/02/2020. All members visited various departments at IISC, participated in quiz conducted by some departments. Department of physics had organised a seminar on lazers and a show on lazers, Semiconductors, applications of them. Have seen super computers, Bio compost preparation, preparation of glassware, etc at IISC.

Report –Women’s forum and Yoga Club Activity

Women’s Forum and Yoga Club organized a yoga session at our college campus for the club members on 04th April 2018(Wednesday) successfully.
The program started at 3.00pm in the AV hall. Principal welcomed the guests and the gathering. In his address he highlighted the importance of yoga in our day to day life. He encouraged the participation and involvement of women in every activity.
The chief guest Ms.Meenakshi, Simplified Kundalini Yoga, World Community Service Centre, Vishala Karnataka Sky Trust (R), Anekal started the session with a general talk regarding the importance of yoga and prayer in our day to day life. She explained about the advantages of doing yoga daily. She motivated all to be passionate, ethical and self confident in the life. She also taught the club members few yoga postures which can be done in daily life.
The session winded up with vote of thanks followed by National Anthem.

 

Yoga Club organized yoga session at our college campus by the club members to the students of First year 2019-20 on 23rd August 2019 as part of 23rd Induction program.

The program started at 9.00 am in the Seminar hall. Session on Nature, Yoga and Health by Sri Phabhudeva, International Yoga teacher and consultant at TCS, Bengaluru explained about Yoga, Super Brain Yoga, Left and right brain capabilities, structure of neurons and demonstrated few exercises which improves the functionality of brain which in turn increases the memory power. Also explained about breath and mood, Breath patterns as according to emotions, how to regulate breathing by practicing pranayama, energy of mind in meditation, sleep and food, various types of breathing (Nasal and mouth breathing) and also explained how herbs are used as medicine like turmeric, millets at super food, coriander and cloves helps in curing cold, cough and digestive disorders. Few exercises were demonstrated were students performed with interest and advised students to continue the same in future for at least 30 minutes in a day.
